Following recent changes to departmental responsibilities, the functions of the former Department of Treaty, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, Communities and the Arts are transitioning to new departments. Work is underway to update departments’ websites.

Communities 2032 Action Plan 2022-25

Our vision of Queensland communities that support and empower every person to connect, participate, contribute and thrive will be realised through three action plans over the next 10 years.

Each action plan will be designed to tackle emergent issues, drive systemic change and enable continued growth.

The first Communities 2032 Action Plan 2022–25 (PDF, 5.7 MB) sets out the initial targeted steps that Queensland Government is taking to reach this vision.

The whole-of-government plan includes significant investment to strengthen social and community services in Queensland, including additional funding to:

  • support the critical role of neighbourhood and community centres
  • develop innovative service models and sector resources
  • deliver targeted actions to better understand and address social isolation and loneliness.

Communities 2032 is the beginning of a conversation with communities about how we can work together to build the Queensland that we all want to live in. As we embark on this journey, we want to partner with communities to determine the best way to deliver these actions, consider other steps we may need to take, measure our progress, and adjust our approach as we go.

Cultural acknowledgement

We pay our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ancestors of this land, their spirits and their legacy. The foundations laid by these ancestors—our First Nations peoples—give strength, inspiration and courage to current and future generations towards creating a better Queensland.

Our human rights commitment

We will respect, protect and promote human rights within our decision-making and actions.
