Following recent changes to departmental responsibilities, the functions of the former Department of Treaty, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, Communities and the Arts are transitioning to new departments. Work is underway to update departments’ websites.

    The Communities and Personal Histories team can help you access historical records to research your family and personal history.

  • Domestic and family violence

    The department is committed to addressing domestic and family violence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and is working with relevant agencies to develop a Queensland Government response to the Not Now, Not Ever: Putting an End to Domestic and Family Violence in Queensland report.

  • Torres Strait Islander traditional child rearing practice

    The Queensland Government has passed a new law to recognise Torres Strait Islander traditional child rearing practice.
