Following recent changes to departmental responsibilities, the functions of the former Department of Treaty, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, Communities and the Arts are transitioning to new departments. Work is underway to update departments’ websites.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships

  • Business and economic development

    We provide whole-of-government strategies to improve business and economic participation outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders.

  • Culture

    Our department administers Queensland's Cultural Heritage Acts and delivers programs of work that celebrate and help preserve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culture.

  • Discrete and remote communities

    We are committed to delivering innovative and effective services for Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islander people across Queensland, particularly to people living in remote and discrete communities.

  • Family and social programs

    We deliver and support social programs that improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, communities and culture.

  • Grants

    We offer a variety of grants each year to promote reconciliation, celebrate culture, and support communities to carry out activities that make a difference to the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

  • Reconciliation and Tracks to Treaty

    Through our reconciliation and reform programs we are committed to a new way of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders.
