Following recent changes to departmental responsibilities, the functions of the former Department of Treaty, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, Communities and the Arts are transitioning to new departments. Work is underway to update departments’ websites.

Multicultural Action Plan

'Our story, our future' is the Queensland Government’s Multicultural Policy, promoting an inclusive, harmonious and united Queensland.

Together with the third Multicultural Action Plan 2022–23 to 2023–24, 'Our story, our future' drives Queensland Government action to build an environment of opportunity and achieve improved social and economic outcomes for people from culturally diverse backgrounds.

Under the Multicultural Recognition Act 2016, agencies with actions in the action plan are required to publicly report on their progress on an annual basis.

The Queensland Multicultural Action Plan progress report 2023–24 (PDF, 497 KB) | Queensland Multicultural Action Plan progress report 2023–24 (DOCX, 688 KB) shows the achievements and outcomes of the department's contribution to the Multicultural Action Plan.

Cultural acknowledgement

We pay our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ancestors of this land, their spirits and their legacy. The foundations laid by these ancestors—our First Nations peoples—give strength, inspiration and courage to current and future generations towards creating a better Queensland.

Our human rights commitment

We will respect, protect and promote human rights within our decision-making and actions.
